I did it. I forced myself to go down to the "fitness center" and used a machine down there. I ran a mile in 12 minutes. You may mock me and the fact that I have the fitness score of a 60 year old. I made it, although I was tempted to flop off the machine onto a mat on the floor after 1/4 of a mile, I kept running.
What kept me going, you ask? Determination? Pure strength of will? No, it was shame, there was a man twice my age running like a fiend on a treadmill across the room.
Peer pressure is a powerful thing. How I'm going to fit in this whole "get fit" plan into my work schedule is another question entirely.
At the end of the mile when I thought I was going to die the machine kicked me at my weakest moment with its own judgment and told me to pedal faster.
